Django Blog Tutorial

Check out my guest posts on creating a blog in Django.

I'll update this post whenever new parts are released.

Update: Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 is now out.

  • Loved to read your blog. I would like to suggest you that traffic show most people read blogs on Mondays. So it should encourage bloggers to write new write ups over the weekend primarily.

  • I'm really impressed with your Django tutorials. Some of the best work I've seen. I'm diving into it with no knowledge and your work is really helping me.

With your knowledge why have you not taken the step of implementing your own Django blog? I use hosted wp.com for most things but am trying to get a sample Django based blog up on app engine.. Looks like it will be quite a hill to climb.

I have gotten a very basic Blog up on GAE (copying a project with modifications) via Bloog but now want to get more into it. http://tombrander.appspot.com
  • Good point. I have been interested in the idea of creating my own Django
blog, but having the time in first year college is making it difficult to
start. Mostly because the bits of free time I have I'm either writing
something (Javascript tutorials are next in the writting) or trying to
catchup on rails changes (I like to keep up-to-date with how Django competes
    with Rails).
With that said, I hope to spend summer working on a Django blog application
to replace my wordpress setup here. Integrating it with GAE is something I
intended to do with any Django projects I intended to deploy. Although I'm
arguing with myself whether I should deploy via GAE or my current webhost
    aSmallOrange which supports FastCGI.

And hopefully, when I finished that blog, I'll write some tutorials on it :)
